Fonts not appearing on PDFs generated in Medibooks
Sometimes when opening PDFs generated in MediBooks users may find that on certain devices the fonts do not load, and instead appear as dots or another character. This can happen when the fonts used in the PDF are not installed on the device that is attempting to open the file. To avoid this fonts can be embedded in PDFs generated within MediBooks. Please note that doing this will increase the size of the document. To learn how to do this please see the section below.
While on recent versions of MediBooks the Letter Templates dialog can be used to change the font in letters, we do not recommend this as there is no guarantee that the font will always be available on all devices and instead suggest using one of the other options available.
Embedded fonts overview
Fonts can be embedded in documents in two different ways, the first is by using the "Embed Fonts" checkbox to override the database setting, we recommend this if the problem relates to a specific customer and you only need to generate statements. If this is a frequent problem we recommend contacting support to ask for this setting to be enabled in the database.
Where can embedded fonts be manually turned on?
One of the ways to generate statements that allow the embedded fonts to be manually controlled is from the customer account screen using the "Statement" button.

The other way of generating statements that allows embedded fonts to be enabled manually is when printing statements from the "Statement Delivery" page using either "Print All Selected" or "Advanced Print". The embedded fonts checkbox on advanced print is shown after selecting a watermark and letter. To learn more about statement delivery please read our Statement Delivery article.

Once the Statement windows has opened there will be an option called "Embed Fonts" click on the checkbox so that it is showing as ticked to turn on embedded fonts. If embedded fonts has been turned on, from the database this will already be ticked when the window is opened. This will need to be checked each time a new statement is printed.
